Which is better, Honda CRV 5th gen or 6th gen?

I think I'm a CR-V fan, I own two Honda CR-V 5th Gen hybrids (2017 and 2022). Few days ago, my brother was test driving a Honda CR-V 2024 6th Gen Hybrid Touring model, and I couldn't help but check it out. I like the exterior design, felt similar to a BMW 3 Series.
Although... idk about the interior and certain features, seems like nothing special. Actually, there are several shortcomings, such as:

• Steering wheel controls at awkward positions (3 and 9 o'clock)
• A dash layout and vents that seemed prone to damage. The knobs are functional, but I like the 5th​ gen better
• The storage cubby is too small
• Less comfortable with a "hump" when laying the seats down
• Fog lights removed and the fake silver cutouts where they used to be

What I like? Well, the return of the traditional shifter in the Gen 6, like the one on my 5th​ Gen, is great, and who wouldn't like the wireless CarPlay feature too.

Despite these little changes, what else is better in the Gen 6 compared to the Gen 5?
The kids need a car to take to school, so I'm thinking about giving the Gen 5 to them and getting myself a Gen 6, but now I'm not sure. Do you have any suggestions?

Great analysis and all is overwhelmingly good. but in addition to all thats been mentioned the AWD feature of the gen 6 is top tier.

@zoolander06 riight, I forgot to mention it, did I? I'm planning to visit the dealership this week, wanted to see the 6th gen features by myself, also checking to see if I can get a deal lol

I'd say go for the 6th Gen. yeah, there are a few quirks like the steering wheel controls and smaller storage, but the better hybrid system, wireless carplay, and overall tech upgrades are a solid step up. Plus, the traditional shifter is a win if you're into that. It could be a nice upgrade, especially with the 5th Gen going to the kids!

I think you can't say for sure that one is definitely, like 100 percent certainty, better than the other. I appreciate this very detailed post tho. But since you're a CR-V fan you'll know for sure the answer is... whatever your heart leans more toward?
