The MM is stays on 40%

I bought my daughter a Honda CRV 2024, the MM at 8000 miles is 40%. I feel it's strange because it was also 40% at 7000 miles. I think the full synthetic oil can last up to 10000 miles, and based on the reading now, it seems that I can drive up to 14000 miles or more. Is this a sensor problem? Should I tell my daughter to take her car to the dealer?

that mainetance minder on Hondas does jackshit about anything if you pardon my French. its not a sensor the car makes some setimates about how you drive and how long you ideal and plenty of other things. id ignore it and do an oil change at your preferred interval some do at 5k others at 10k anything above that seems too much for me

@CRVman88 honestly the Maintenance Minder sounds like it's trying to play the part of a mysterious wizard whose predictions no one really trusts, but if it's stuck at 40% after a thousand miles, it could just be the system working off algorithms that don't quite match real-life conditions like @yingyangtictactoe said. Personally, I'd follow what makes practical sense. Maybe an oil change at a reasonable interval like 5k or 7.5k but if you're still uneasy about it, taking the car to the dealer might not hurt just to confirm it isn't something odd with the software or settings.

That's just weird. the sensor's probably glitching. Honestly, it's a new car yeah, just take it to the dealer and make them fix it. You don't want to end up with an issue down the road just because the system's giving false readings.

Might be a glitch or a manufacturing issue. if it's still under warranty, just get it checked

Hey, I'm curious what ended up happening with your daughter's CRV. Did she take it to the dealer? That oil life percentage thing sounded a bit weird. Hope it wasn't anything serious!

Same thing happened with my 2024 hybrid. I took it in for maintenance and the dealer said they wouldn't provide the factory covered oil change service because the service light wasn't on yet, but the oil had not been changed it almost 15k miles. We ended up listening to them and not changing the oil. The intake manifold failed shortly thereafter due to "corrosion" and was replaced under warranty. So far I've had to replace the battery and the intake manifold in 30k miles.
