safety in storing items near the battery

I drive a 2021 CR V Hybrid and was wondering about that rear cargo area where the hybrid battery sits underneath. Space is always at a premium, so I've been tempted to stash a few small items in that compartment. What I'm not clear on is whether it's safe or advisable to store anything close to the battery pack.

nope, I don't think that's a good idea. That compartment is there to house the high voltage hybrid battery, which is a serious piece of electrical equipment.
Even though it's in a sealed case, you run the risk of damaging the casing with a heavy or sharp item. A punctured battery case could be extremely dangerous, and it's just not worth the risk for a bit of extra storage space

Hey! I wouldn't stash anything near the hybrid battery, heat, vibrations, or leaks could be risky. Stick to the usual cargo spots to be safe. That area's really just for the battery
