Prepping to store my ride for the next few months

My 2019 has been rock solid, but I'm heading overseas for work for a few months, possibly 3–5 depending on how things go, the car will be sitting in my garage the whole time and there will be no one around to start it regularly or take it for a spin. It's only got about 38K miles on it, and I'd like to keep it in good shape for when I get back, I've never had to store a car this long before, yunno just the usual weekend or holiday stuff, so I'm trying to figure out if there are actually right steps and if yes, what they are

It all depends on how much you're willing to do for this. I know people that just lock their cars and let them sit for half a year and I know people that cry when they need to go away. Anyways, here are a few things.

The battery is the first thing to think of. You can disconnect the negative terminal or use a trickle charger or battery tender. I've done both, so choose which one you like.

The tires should be inflated per spec, or maybe a psi or two more and if you're willing to go the extra mile, you can fit foam pads below them to make sure you don't end up with flat spots.

Forget about the parking brake. If it sits for too long engaged, it will probably remain in a locked position and you'll have a headache when you get back. Use wheel chocks if you're not parking on a level ground.

The fuel will start to degrade, so you may add fuel stabilizer. Some people change the oil, but I say it depends on when was your last oil change.

Last but not least, give it a good wash and if you plan to keep it outside, consider covering it.

If modern cars are so "advanced," why does parking one for a few months risk battery drain, flat spots, or system faults, shouldn't long-term storage be smarter and more seamless by now?
