Hi,
I have a 2001 Honda CRV that I have owned since new as a daily driver and have it maintained in good condition thanks to the advice given in this forum.
I have adjusted the valves 2x now and they were tight both times as expected. I have done a few repairs differently than suggested here that have lasted for many years:
1. The plastic piece on the rear window latch broke so the window would not stay closed. Instead of changing it, I took a piece of the top of a tin can and cut it with sheers and bent it in a rectangular shape and snugly inserted it over the latch where the plastic piece broke off and it has worked perfectly for well over 12 years now:
2. The replaced the plastic plug that the parking brake switch hits that wears out and falls on the floor leaving the brake light on and battery draining with a simple nut/bolt and then put a small rubber bumper with 3m adhesive on the bolt head as a stop. This has been good for at least 10 years now.
I used to only buy Honda OEM parts, but they are getting hard to find for this older Honda now. I'm now cross referencing performance aftermarket parts that are marketed for the Civic community that are not listed for the CRV even though they share the same engine and many other things.
Example would be this good 8mm wire set that is made in USA with clips I found on Amazon that do not make the factory AM radio buzz to the sound of the distributor.
